Boston Retail’s FastLane® Wiring Systems is a cost effective “plug & play” solution that carries power, voice and data from the main source to your selling floor. There are many benefits of the FastLane® solution that reduces the costs of operation for the owner. In addition to these benefits, FastLane® can offer a reduction in the cost of ownership. The components of the FastLane® system can be designated as “Tangible Personal Property” instead of “Real Property” in accordance with IRS codes. US tax law is structured to differentiate between “Tangible Personal Property” and “Real Property”. “Tangible Personal Property” can be depreciated at an accelerated rate (7 years) versus the standard rate of depreciation for “Real Property” (39 years). Therefore, the components of the FastLane® system can be depreciated using the Modified Accelerated Cost Recovery System (MACRS) method over a life of 7 years. The net result is a tax savings of approximately 30% of the purchase price during the first 8 years of ownership.
